SHADOWS JOURNEY. CHAPTER 1 – Day 7

Something moved in the bush;

the bush rustled with a smell of ape, then a smell conquering the environment. Was it metal? Yes. Was it a young man? No, because he had seen no young men—or any hu-mans, for that matter.

A pungent smell of pheromones and “Arctic” mint,

a mix not normal to dead leaves and the ever-beautiful smell of rot from the woods. His nose was so sensitive he could actually smell it cancelling out the natural scent of the forest—a perfume, he thought. He passed it off as just a “smell” at first, but then something worse arrived: a fog-like odour, overpowering and artificial.

It was poisonous to him, even if the “hu-man” wearing it felt grand. It was all aldehydes and chemicals—to a panther, it smelled like electric, fizzy jasmine and rose. No roses were present here. Something stank, and it reminded him of the cage and a female “hu-man” who used to visit.
